Courses are a great way for students of any language to excel and to consolidate what they learn as quickly as possible. Dragons in Europe currently offers its clients a range of 6 courses which all vary in length, difficulty and degree of immersion:

"Dragons Connect"

This is a 10 session course composed of 2 initial face-to-face sessions followed by 8 online tutor sessions. All you need is Skype or MSN and a PC headset and you're ready to go! This course is most suited to those who would like to learn the basics of conversational Mandarin Chinese. Fast, straightforward, cost-effective and lots of fun!

Mandarin Chinese for Beginners

This course is a minimum of 10 sessions and is ideal for clients wishing to reach an acceptable level of competency within a period of 3 months. This timeline is a suggestion rather than a requirement.

Pre-Exam “Top-Up"

Our team are on hand to support any students that require tuition before their exams. Now that Mandarin Chinese is a part of so many European educational curriculums, there is a growing need for us to provide our last minute expertise for students that want to hit the top grade!

Full Immersion

This course is aimed at clients wishing to reach a high standard of oral and written Mandarin Chinese. The ‘Full Immersion’ Course should ideally be completed in a 3 month time frame to ensure maximum language retention.

Business+

Business+ is targeted towards clients that have previously had a good level of fluency in Mandarin Chinese and who now need to reuse their knowledge of the language for professional or academic reasons.

Dragons Connect

Free communication software packages, such as Skype and MSN, have enabled us all to talk for free over the internet; nowadays, millions of people are now learning new languages by using this simple but effective format. So, why not Mandarin Chinese?

Dragons Connect is a combination of 2 home/office visits and 8 online tuition sessions. The Course is perfect for those who are focused on mastering the basics of conversation Chinese. Ideal for those wanting to head off to China to make a good first impression!

The 10 Sessions will be focused on the following areas:

This course is only focused on the essentials of Mandarin Chinese. Our clients' requirements are focused around the ability to say hello and goodbye, to get from A to B, to know how much, what time and how long...

This course is ideal for clients who require only a basic level of tuition and who wish to speak Mandarin Chinese to be polite and to be respectful of the native population. This is not suitable for any clients that require a more comprehensive grasp of Mandarin Chinese.

Mandarin Chinese for Beginners

Whilst this course is available through individual sessions (1 hour minimum), we encourage our clients to attend double sessions, half-day or full day sessions to maximise language retention. Focus will not only be on clients being able to communicate in but also being able to understand Mandarin Chinese.

The 30 sessions will be focused on the following areas:

All course material will be provided in laminated hard-copy so that our clients can reference the sessions at any stage during the course. Our tutors will provide intra-session support so that clients’ progress, confidence and competence can be monitored by our tuition team.

Pre-Exam “Top-Up”

The length of this course can be set by the client and depends on their level of competency and the type of exam that they need to pass. Whether it’s GCSE, A Level, HSK or even a University degree in Mandarin Chinese, our tuition team can help all students to prepare well for that all-important exam.

Since these exams are set to test all the main disciplines of communicating in a foreign language, our tuition team will align the course to the following areas of focus:

Listening and Speaking

We will use the exam material to test that students have correctly grasped all the main learning points relating to both listening to and speaking Mandarin Chinese. This will include fun role plays which will test the students ability to ask questions but also to respond in the appropriate manner.

Reading and Writing

Since most European examinations are written in traditional Chinese characters, it is vital that we test the students’ ability to understand and respond in the appropriate manner. Our tuition team are hugely experienced in providing fast immersion tips so that students are well prepared for the exam.

NOTE: We kindly request clients to provide us with their syllabus material so that we can align the tuition to the relevant areas of focus for them to successfully pass the exam.

Full Immersion

This course is ideally aimed at clients with a previous (if basic) knowledge of the language who require to speak, understand and write Mandarin Chinese to an intermediate level. Not only will all of the areas in the ‘Mandarin Chinese for Beginners’ course (see above) be covered in greater detail, but this course puts particular emphasis on the ability to speak and understand the most popular elements of Mandarin Chinese.

The 50 sessions will also focus on the following areas:

 

Continuous Role Plays:

Business+

This course is most commonly attended by clients who have previously studied Mandarin Chinese at higher education - e.g. university courses or foreign language exchange student programs - and who now wish to fine-tune their level of fluency.

Rather than being a set number of sessions, it is an ideal opportunity for a client to focus on specific aspects of the 'Full Immersion' course (see above), which may be in areas of weakness or interest depending on his or her particular situation.

Whilst sessions within this course will be directed by the client, our tutors will always try to identify areas for improvement through continuous role plays and the introduction of new vocabulary bespoke to the client's interest.

This course is also most frequented by clients whose professions/ interests are focused on an area of commercial, geographical or technical expertise e.g. commerce, logistics, marketing etc. In this case, Dragons in Europe will always aim to provide a tutor that has experience in a particular area of focus and relevance for the client.
